I took part in the 'Reading Lightweights Ride' on Sunday with a few of the Oxford section of the V-CC, and around 40 other riders.
I rode the 1949 Raleigh Sports.....

...I used the footbridge on the right, I didn't use the ford!
My Raleigh with Jamie's 1949 Raleigh Record Ace in the foreground.....

...some incredibly rare and high quality racing bikes were being used, all steel-framed and made pre 1987, which was great to see.
All of the bikes I drooled over as a youngster!
Simon's 'Harry Quinn'....

...a lovely 'Holdsworth'.....

...and a 'Bates'.....

...both in variations of my favourite bicycle colour.

But in terms of paintwork, this "Hetchins" was quite possibly the craziest.....

...just look at it, that's paint, not decals!!!!

First ride in a week as the weather has been been awful. Fortunately I’ll be riding out 4 weeks of winter downunder on a Greek island in the sun with my outlaws.

As I was riding along the river I came across this container ship coming into the docks.

Westgate Bridge, Melbourne. On October 15 1970 during the construction of the bridge, a 367ft 2000 ton span collapsed killing 35 construction workers and injuring another 18. It remains as Australia’s worse Industrial accident.

I met some friends for the monthly Old Bikes Club Bluz Cruz with my Western Flyer by Shelby to cruise around Denver. It was a nice day with better air quality. Still some haze but soaked up plenty of Vitamin D.
Quick pause to watch a train load of coal pass below...

Then over to Ball Arena. Denver Nuggets took a big win over the Lakers the night before in LA to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals!!

Why not check out construction at Mile High Stadium on our way through? Stopped for a moment to enjoy the shade with my friend Blu on the way.....

Mini Mile High Stadium in the parking lot. I hoped they had miniature seats inside but there are seats from the old stadium.

Then just cruised around the downtown area.

4 of us in the elevator to ride the parking structure...

And a stop for delicious hand made ice cream before finishing. Honey caramel coffee on a waffle cone was just what I needed!

These past few days I’ve been riding my first rocket bike. I bought it in January 2023. I’ve bought a rocket every month since! So I’m looking forward to June!

This rocket is bare metal with metal flake clear coat over it. And Alexander’s BEAR TRAP flashlight holder on the bars! Don’t get your finger in there by mistake!
