This 94’ Nishiki has been on the Tecate sponsored Rosarito Beach to Ensenada Mexico 50 miler a few times. Got it new the same year I got married. Installed a new stem to get the bars up and new tires this week. Compared to the Hardrock it’s heavier with an increased pedal effort overall. Perhaps more rolling resistance. The traditional Mountain Bike frame is a little more over the pedals than the farther forward more slope top tube on the Hardrock. Lots of great memories with this ol battle axe. Someone needed my seat on one of the runs and finished the last 10 without. I used my shoe on the post down hill and back on to pump up. Amazing what Beer and Tacos can do for you. Might make a 5-7 speed cruiser out this one eventually. Long post but it evoked a few memories today.
Still not old school exciting but earning me stripes first !!
This is the center stage for the annual Blue grass music festival in Darrington Wa., the trail I ride passes right behind this structure.
This is the view of grandstands and barely visible White Horse mtn. On clear day it’s a beautiful view. Cold, rainy and windy today.About mile from stage is this slide area, trail passes right on edge of sliding river bank. Rode into town of Darrington, last 6 mi more like single track cross county ridingReally quiet this time of year. Main Street is a highway that leads from western Wa. Over mountains to eastern Wa.( North Cascade Highway one of most scenic routes in Wa.) Really busy in summer, but highway closes in winter in higher up due to snow.
