Those brick ceilings are insane!! Great pictures. 👍
All the best stone masons in Australia in that era were from the UK. Their amazing work is evident all over the city. Sadly it wasn’t appreciated by many trying to rid Australia of its colonial past and many incredible buildings were torn down.

I will take some more photos of other buildings at the university in the coming weeks.

So those bricks are actually real and not the artificial lightweight 1/2" thick stick on with thin set pieces? I've seen arched ceilings made with real bricks, but nothing like that ceiling!

I very much doubt they aren’t real bricks however they could be thinner than a typical brick and likely made from a lighter material. In the late 19th century Melbourne was known as Marvelous Melbourne and considered one of the most beautiful modern cities in the world. That was before they started tearing many of them down.

I rode to Glorious Gilbert today. 😃 Shake down ride on gramp’s 41 New World for the vintage bicycle ride tomorrow.

Day 3 at the March meets.... Very large crowd today, but windy and cold... Took the 36 LWB Colson out, this is actually the first ride of it(other than down the block and back)....
Didn't get to run until 5pm.... My buddy won round one with a 6.07.
It's good to see racing on a come back.....

Looking forward to some photos of your vintage ride @Miq.

Out riding the 'Cicli Vecchi' today.
A flattish route of 28 miles to Abingdon and back.
Only had to attempt a gear change once, successfully!
Stopped in Dorchester to use this lovely thatched 'cob' garden wall as a backdrop.....

...the Daffodils on the grass verge will soon be in full flower, despite the cold.
The 'cob' wall is basically clay and rubble, the thatch keeps the rain off and the structure sound, for a time.
This one is full of small holes where some species of masonry/solitary bees have been very busy over the last few years.
