I did a makeover on my '21 Commencal Absolut to tailor it for pump track use. It came equipped with 26"x2.35" Maxxis Ikon tires. Great cross country knobby tire. It also came with the original Schwalbe Billy Bonkers 26"x2.1" tires. I want a fast, light tire that spins up quick with good grip. As some of you know, I like the tires on my bikes to be black. The blacker the better. There is a primal distaste, rooted deep in my DNA for gumwall tires especially. 🤢🤢🤮 Since the Maxxis DTH folding 26"x2.3" blackwall tires won't be available for at least a month I am forced to abandon my comfort zone & got the skinwall tires. (Excuse me. Just threw up in my mouth a little bit.🤦♂️)
Since I prefer limes, I am going to try to make limeade out of lemons. In an attempt to evolve & rid myself of silly hangups I'm diving in head first by going with it by adding skinwall pedals from Burgtec and grips from Evil.
With the wheels off for tire change, I polished the frame since it had some cable rub & couple of scuffs before a coat of wax on everything painted. Since the bike has low mileage it needed spokes on the back wheel re-tensioned. Brake needed some fine tuning & bar adjusted. Now it's ready to hit the track!!🤓
