I’ve been goofing with this Hiawatha lately. It’s just a 60s era department store bike and it’s worth nothing. I pulled it from a scrap pile here in Texas where it had sat since the 70s. I wound up buying a similar girls bike as a parts donor and I should have it riding for maybe 50 bucks total. A fools way to spend money for sure but I’m not about the money. It’s about the process and the satisfaction for me.

I get it. My favorite rider is a 60’s Murray / Sears I picked up from a church rummage for $15 twenty five years ago. My first vintage pick up. It isn’t worth any money but the Joy of riding and changing it up over the years is truly priceless. It would be the last of my bikes to go if it came to that and I do have some valuable ones. Enjoy!

I got this '72 Schwinn Bantam for $10. Broke it down, rebuilt the wheels and hubs, removed most of the rust , repacked the bearings , washed and waxed the frame and fork. Replaced the chain. The front tire is still flat. Next week is another day.

I started to disassemble my ‘47 Huffman(thanks again to the members that helped me identify it) I haven’t decided whether I will take the Whizzer parts off for my Schwinn Whizzer and rehab the bicycle or if i rehab it as a Whizzer. As you can see it’s pretty rough. Normally I would like to keep it natural but I’m wondering if it deserves a new paint job. Love to hear some expert opinions.
