I also grabbed this Schwinn Typhoon today. 2 speed hub on this one too.
Looks like it is a 1968.

Nice! Even the fender stays are straight, and clean chrome on that one.

Nice. These middleweights look great with fat tires. Here’s a Corvette I stripped down and added enameled drop centers and 2.3” tires on.

You've got the Yellow Band rear end which is much better for hill climbing than the Red Band. I have a 1968 Typhoon and it's one of my favorite bikes. Before you tear it down and Klunk it, do a very nice PM and polish job on it and use it for a cruiser for a while. I think you'll like it.

I might just strip it down a bit. Bigger tires, no fenders, different stem, bars, and saddle. I will keep all the original parts.
