Matter

Look Ma, No Hands!
So I have had this bike buried for 25 or 30 years. Just curious what the experts here think it actually is? Serial says 57 and Speedsters didn't come until 59 so I get the chainguard swap but also has a locking fork and .105 spokes. It has always looked like an original bike to me but obviously it is not.

1957 middleweights with that paint scheme had a bolted on kickstand. The Wasp had that paint scheme and had the built in kickstand. I can't tell if the rims are S-2's or not, but my bet is that's a Wasp. Fenders have been replaced. A locking springer was a factory option. If the locking mechanism doesn't work then it might have been added at a later time. All the locking springers used the pre 1955 style crowns and fork legs.
