Why would one consider restoring that? It looks to be in very nice original condition.

I’m a rookie so my idea of restoring is just cleaning off the rust and making sure it all works as it should

So if I clean the rust off and make sure it’s all working it’ll drop in price

Perhaps. I would leave it as is. Little upside and potentially you could scratch or damage the chrome, decals or paint.

Gotcha. So if I badly restored it. I use water and light scrubbing with tin foil on metallic parts seems to be working good for me

There's a difference between restored and serviced.... Plenty of in depth threads on how to properly clean up paint, chrome and service. Restoring usually involves a repaint, rechrome new decals etc... Nobody likes to see a decent original paint bike "restored" and cost usually exceeds value. Good luck with the project it should clean up nicely
