Finally finished. Love that Starbrite aluminum cleaner/restorer and Mother's polish. It took hours off of the restoration of this aluminum bicycle. You decide. Compare how the frame looked in the first photo to now. I used less than 2 oz of Starbrite on this bike. I just kept brushing it on. It washed away the grime and tarnish. Which would have taken hours to remove with a buffer/polisher.

Looks killer, great job, but that seat….not so much…imho, otherwise awesome!

Tell me about it. It was the only red seat I had at the time. I'll probably replace it in a few months.
Saddle looks great, but the Buick bomb site hood ornament is dynamite. The early 40's ones were two piece. When taken apart, the center looks like the Schwinn fender bomb. Beautiful job all the way around!

I have owned that Buick bomb site for years. It has been on a lot of my bikes. My favorite part is the propellor. A fellow CABE member made them years ago.

I got this bike a little over a week ago and didn’t know what I was going to do to it, I had no thoughts of fixing it up but I got a wild hare and it’s becoming a very nice daily rider. It came with a butterfly kickstand but I took it off and put a center stand on it.

Before

View attachment 2153841and now minus it still needs an age appropriate seat and chain guard as well as a few other things

View attachment 2153842the next set of pictures the bike should all be ready to be a daily rider or tear it back down and get to the original paint and pinstripes. Eventually it will be blue and even more transformed.
It’s changed even more……………….:
