What is the cheapest 28" tire for this bike?

I just want to take a ride on this 1930 Columbia. I see some rubber on ebay but I am not sure if they will fit a steel clad wood rim or not. This is the first time I have tried to get one of these going and do not want to spend much on it really. I would buy a used set but they are probably more expensive. I really do not no much about this size bike. I see on ebay there are sellers that say there tires will fit steel clad for around $45. I found some 700 x 38 cc clincher tires for $25.00 would this size work?

I've had pretty good luck grooving metal clads for clinchers. First read about it on the Cabe, I believe Bikewhorder first posted the process. Probably done more than a half dozen pairs. The 700 tires available on Ebay & Amazon, can be a little inconsistent as far as the actual ISO is concerned. I find that the Schwalbe 700x38 are a really good fit & ride very well.

Those won't work unless you alter the rims.

28" wheeled pre-1937 ish bikes are not the cheapest to own/operate.

That's why most 28" riders these days have 700C rims laced to vintage hubs, and sometimes faux wood grained!
