Wow! Bummer!
I bought a 1950 Schwinn bike a while ago at a car show. I started riding it around and after about an hour the fork tube broke and and nearly wrecked myself. I'd never seen it before, the tube snapped off in the middle and the forks fell out. Barry

So, although it defies my imagination as to why or how Schwinn calls their frame 'cantilever', yet, that there crack and break splains why they designed em.

And obviously, from the appearance of the lower side of that tube, rusted already, it was cracked for some time and went unnoticed. It didn't rust on that side and lower edge overnight. Good thing the tire was there to cause the tube to serve as a brake. [grin]
