After seeing the chain ring I'm inclined to go with '53 as well. I hope that cannon ball wasn't worth a lot of money because if that's all you got all the money is in the fork.

Idk I couldn’t find any 53 that had that a similar springer fork, and it is said to be in the state the original owner of the bike had it back in the 70s when he had stored it. I think it might be the date you originally suggested, however some parts have been replaced over the years. Although I cannot check this theory out because I don’t know how to check the date of the serial. In addition I couldn’t find any other #s on the bottom, so what is there is what we got.

I'm still going with earlier, bobbed tip fenders and sprocket of a Super, letters to the right of serial #'s will tell, cant tell from pics is their notches above the rear axle adjusters for the 50's style rack?

So there should be more #s? I can try and clean some paint off.

Finally had time this morning to take the bike out of the truck and take some clearer photos for all. I didn’t clean off the serial # in full yet. But I did get these photos, and from what I have heard you all say about mountings on the fender for a 48-49, it seems to have that. I determined it was the rear fender because it has the indentation for the chain/gaurd, and the front has the typical dent from the light mount.
