What year is this BF Goodrich

I think it is a Schwinn but not sure.
Number is C42569.

I'm going to try my first OA bath on this one this week, I'll post the results in before and after thread.

There is one major detail one needs to know when dating a Schwinn. Where is the serial number located!!!!


I'd guess that's a 1947 Schwinn with that style head badge and the SN is located on the BB.

Just a heads up....I once turned a similar condition Schwinn frame to a pink color trying an OA bath. Be very careful, I’ve read something about the OA attacking the iron oxide used to pigment red paint as it attacks the rust too.
I haven’t used OA on red paint since. Just trying to save you from the same experience.

Doh!! I’m red/green colorblind so that probably explains that...
