Wheel Pinstripe Color

I am in the process of repainting the drop center wheels on my '46 DX. My question is was the pinstripe matched to the bike color. I have seen black pinstripes on red bikes and blue ones. Was there any rhyme or reason to the stripe color?

Typically, the stripe was color matched to the bike, but I think some of the assembly crew must have been color blind, because I have seen original bikes that seemed to have what ever color was available at the time.

White or black seem to be the most common colors. I would just go with what ever you like best. V/r Shawn

I agree. I also think at times they used whatever was there.
