When nickel became chrome?

Does anyone know when bicycles started using chrome plating instead of nickel?

I know that most cars switched over between 1929 and 1930 but was wondering if bikes followed suit.

Switch to Chrome

It's always been my understanding that this happened at the same time for bikes. I know bicycles often times lagged autos and motorcycles with regards to stuff like this, but the year I've always heard quoted for bicycles too was 1929.

I'm not sure how we could ever find out for sure? Then again it might have varied a bit from manufacturer to manufacturer.
