Who sold this Peerless Shelby built bicycle?

On the flip side of "the catalog isn't always accurate" is that there were a bunch of configurations never in a catalogue particularly with promotional models. We can pick this apart all day long. Had the bike come through a string of collectors I'd say all bets off but when one is found in the wild like this I tend to accept it as being authentic.

I always carry a few brake arms and antique rattle cans just in case

Yes the bike was missing a brake strap to it , but the brake arm is original. All I did was add a brake arm strap to so now the bike can stop when ridden.

Was Peerless like Ranger with Schwinn, always seems to be built with Schwinn's last yrs parts? and I know the last couple of yrs before the war companies were using up old stock on shelves so a few mixed up bikes.

I don't believe so. Again, based on the '37 ad I posted I'm convinced this is a '37.

Shelby is known for doing some strange things with bikes & parts. Department stores looking for something a bit different can really skew trying to assign a specific year as well. Very cool bike that appears original to me & fun following along to figure it out!
