In order to pay for my next project I am selling my steam-bent wood drop bars with stem & original cork & brass cap grips.
These 19th Century wood drop bars would be a deluxe option for a racer or scorcher from the 1890's.
I purchased these bars on a ca. 1895/6 Waverly Men's Scorcher style bike. The bike was not so well preserved but the bars are beautiful.
17" across at the grips
7" rise as shown with stem in position.
Early, seemingly original 3/4" diameter stem.
They seem to have been painted long ago, I would guess that the paint may have helped preserve the bars in the barn loft for the past 100 years.
I have not done more than clean the bars with a damp cloth. The stem will need to be cleaned up and the cinch bolt will need to cleaned to secure a proper grab on the bars, I will leave that to the next lucky owner.
These bars belong on a truly impressive bike, something more impressive than anything in my collection.
Here is an opportunity to own some of the rarest handlebars in the hobby and likely the most temperamental.
I would be open to partial trade / cash deal on the right TOC oddity.
Located in Detroit, MI
$1,100 shipped CONUS
**If the set doesn't sell I'm okay with that. I will put them back on the shelf and wait until I find a fitting bike- so this is my "not desperate to sell them but if you want it badly enough" price. **
