Wore out three sets of tires already!
Has anyone here, a collector or ones with bicycle expertise considered writing a book?
I'm serious.
I know it would be time consuming but may be helpful if it was a collaborative effort. I'd be the first to buy it!!!!
Again, I'm serious because what a shame as time goes by it will be lost knowledge.
What I thought was so simple turns out is complex. Things like valuation, how restoration affects value, how to identify parts, what's correct and not. Even good parts suppliers/sources would be invaluable.
Even anniversary bikes like one pictured. They can be ridden and enjoyed, but is there any collectability?
It wouldn't have to be an expensive endeavor.
A very good friend of ours has published a few books on a small scale and sales exceeded publishing costs.
Thoughts?

I have a few bike books I got many years ago which are good, like history, one is technical about proper adjustments, one shows exploded views like 3 speed hub, etc. I don't think I've seen anything like dos and don'ts, restoration (yes/no/when), etc.

The subject of bicycles and their history and production is so massively huge; it covers nearly 200 years, so to be of any use a book would have to be about a specific aspect, era or brand, otherwise there's just WAY too much to cover.

I have thought of doing a large format "coffee table" picture (only) book covering balloon tire bikes from the height of the art deco period - from about 1934 to 1941 just before the war, and restricting it to American brands. It would also only include bicycles in original, un-restored, as found condition. I tried to imagine a book I would buy immediately as a bike lover and consumer, and that's the book I would buy instantly, at just about any price.
