for bonus points, how does a Firestone "putter" differ from a Dayton one?

scott,if i recall,the firestone one is smooth,on the sides,whereas the dayton one has the side grooves. help a brother out,i KNOW YOU HAVE A SPARE ONE FOR ME! thanx,keith

The Dayton stem has 1 hash mark on the sides, and the Firestone has 3 hash marks, otherwise, they are the same.

what year is your bike? the '37 takes the "putter stem" but the '38 doesn't. in '38 they seem to have used the wald type stem.
