I'm in the twin club now! Anybody know how to rebuild a floating front hub?

I'm a new twin owner myself.:D I have a NOS 56 link chain and it's waaaay too short. Do you mind counting your links and is there only one master link?

Thanks!
Chad

Is there a special tool for replacing bearings in steel cages?

I do it all the time using my fingers or a small screwdriver. Scott(RJ) has a nice little tool that does make it easier. Those cages can be pretty sharp:eek:

]Anybody know how to rebuild a floating front hub?
Just like any other front hub really. The key is NOT to over tighten the bearing preload. I can't stress this enough. Too tight & you will wipe out those soft bearing races in no time...that's if they're not already toast. I'd say out of 10 hubs, 8-9 are pitted, scored & sometimes unusable. I've been meaning to make some adjusting wrenches to make this easier. If only someone could make up some replacement hardened hub races for these SW Floating hubs...:(
