Old style was better layed out. I searched nearly an hour to find the "Log In" option. Newer version isn't really special. I'm sorry. It's just how I feel.

Old style - better (thought-out) design
New style - "cookie cutter" design

Strange... they are almost identical.

They're just complaining about the 'bright' page. It will get toned down after a while. Making it work is the #1 job and as for what it looks like it's now maybe within 95% of where it was, given the all-new software.

They just went through this at the 'other guys', and all those sites running vBulletin 4.2.x still are going to have some changes as well. Given the huge effort it takes to import the database to a new platform The CABE aced it.
