He sounds like an elitist. His blog post has a mocking tone towards Schwinn bikes in general.

Until a Cimarron surfaces with a Made in Japan sticker, I'll defer to Richard, and even then. Aren't there peculiarities in the law about labeling an item 'Made in the USA'? Nearly everything on these bikes was made in Japan or Taiwan, etc. Perhaps that could explain the Made in Japan sticker. Just a thought.
There are laws specific to the country of origin but after NAFTA, things got murky. Products can be assembled here with offshore parts and somehow falsely say, 'Made in USA', but are really supposed to say, 'Assembled in USA'. I see vendors on eBay all the time proudly selling wares with the American flag logo and their products are totally made offshore. I don't know if that's to say when your offshore product goes to sh**, at least you'll be dealing with an American vendor?

Somewhere on the product it has to be stickered/stamped 'where' it was made to be sold here in the States. However, there doesn't seem to be much if any regulation on the size/location of that statement or its durability.

This has gotten really continuous with car/truck parts.....things that are critically important to safety which could fail prematurely and kill you. There's a German auto parts company named Meyle that makes all the parts boxes themselves(labeled 'Made in Germany'), but the parts in the boxes are Asian-made. It's almost like the old grifter shell game.

Wow, how the Cimarron (and Schwinn) name has been cheapened. This is the blog entry. There are no photos of a "Made in Japan" sticker, so it's a case of inaccurate information on the part of the blogger

Unfortunately, if you love Schwinn for the “Made in America” thing, this one doesn’t quite do it. This particular Cimarron was designed in America (really well) but built in Japan. And sold in Bellevue.

During this time the Japanese manufactures installed a very nice and obscure decal at the top of the seat tube. What does that gold decal on the top of the seat tube say? Made in/for? with bold SCHWINN across the middle.
