well it seems to me mid-50s had a schwinn script hub, then around 60 the script trailed off and underlined it. At some point Schwinn approved got stamped to it on the other side...

Shaking head saying no. The hubs with the Schwinn script were made in house by Schwinn, and anything that says Schwinn Approved was supplied by a vendor.

I think Keith is pretty much on with his time. But the Schwinn script low flange hubs were used first on earlier lightweights. 1939

This has been a question of mine for some time. There seem to be subtle differences (i.e. depth of engraving, differences in plating, etc) and I'm curious if the differences we're intentional and dateable or random.
