Made to make the wheels go around, so if they are not on a bike, I sell them at the swap meet to someone who is looking to make their wheels go around.
But, they do look pretty hanging from the rafters.
Personally, I always wanted to grout them into the floor, but then, it would just make me sad, looking at all those dead sprockets that are not being used, to make someone’s wheels go around.
