Nice Truss bridge frame post 1921
Frame is pretty straight, with a couple of minor dents in the seat stays, possibly from a rack. Rough but original paint.
Really nice set of wood clincher rims with schwalbe tires, NOS Model R rear hub, NOS sprocket, NOS diamond chain, model M front hub, NOS...
Iver made all their own fittings which are distinct
None of them match on this bike.
Crankset, Headset, Fork crown, Rear drops
I do not believe Iver Johnson used letters in their serial numbers either
And badge clearly too big for the head tube
It has been added at some point in its life life...
Nice
Careful use of a graffiti remover might get you back to the original paint
There is a few threads on the process here and vintage car forums like the samba
Not really
Houston has a large population now but it is a relatively new city. Add to that the flooding and other natural disasters we enjoy not much old stuff around.
My observation is vintage finds seem more common in older cities like the north east.
Have you taken the suspension apart yet?
It looks like the bottom and top springs are missing ?
My springs are pretty worn
Was looking at getting some made at one point, but most manufacturers have a minimum order which was pretty high
As has already been mentioned it looks a lot like a mongoose ATB biplane fork from the early BMX cross over period around 1984
It should be 1” thread with 21.1mm insert diameter IIRC
I believe they were made by Tange or Akisu, and on several early ATBs of the era
I am going to say mongoose ATB...
I believe the 1909 - 1910 models had the one year only nut on the drive side and recessed cups, and 1903-1909 crank is different again
so I am going to put it between 1911 and 1921 or perhaps had a later model crank fitted hence the make shift lock ring
If you can remove the tape and get a close...
