Just saw this thread. 72 rover, how's it going? After buying many of your saddles I can say they were beautiful and pretty much perfect. When it comes to these old troxel or mesinger saddles, wire frame or flat steel, the longer the frame the better. It's easy to find a perfect frame only to...
Hi Dizzle,
Just looked at the thread on the BMX Museum again. The owner of this blue bike said this:
Re: Original owner 26” Champion one off score
I asked Konle about your frame tonight and he said it’s a true Champion. He said, “it’s a true one off” as they made very few of them with canti...
I saw the post on the BMX forum of this blue champ with original paint. The current owner knew it's history and had bought it from the original owner who bought it new as shown. His had the derailleur tab welded on the frame and the rear brake cable housing ending at a cable guide bolted to...
Cool thread. I picked up this 26" Champion from the original owner who had built it into a MTB from day one. Cooks bars, Philwood hubs, Araya rims, TA cranks. Set up as a five speed but I can convert to a ten speed easily enough. Has cable guides, canti mounts, internal brake cable in top...
Nice to see you have finished your build. Those Schwinn stamped Ashtabula stems are very heavy duty and hard to find. I bought an NOS one for just $60 and the guy had about 10 of them. Went back to buy another and they were all sold.
Hi Dutch,
Sorry for the late response. I will have to look at tires to get the brand name and do some digging to recall where I bought them. Seems it was just standard issue ballon tire stuff.

Thought I would post a couple pics from a recent visit to the Marin Bicycle Museum. They had a weekend swap meet that was pretty cool so me and a buddy took my 41 DX and my 81 Champion bikes up. Ran into Don Koski that used to own The Cove Bicycle Shop in Tiburon, California. Way cool guy...
Nicely done, Speed King. Yes they are great riding bikes. To all you guys sitting on the fence about building a klunker, the sooner you get started the better as the parts are getting harder to find. Once done you will quickly find you have a new favorite bike. Plenty of old school cool in a...
Hi Talon,
Really like the build you did awhile back. Yeah, I have been using safety wire to hold cables on bikes for a long time. It's subtle and vintage. Plastic tie wraps look so out of place to me on a vintage build.
It's a YST adapter. Worked out perfectly.

Hi Guys,
Somewhat new around here but not new to building bikes. Thought I would share a few pictures of a bike I have been building. I started with a 41 Schwinn DX frame and Tange TX1200 fork I picked up at a local swap meet. Initial plan was to just throw together a bomber with parts I had...
