Thanks Adam!. The bike is blue. From what I see online, men's bikes were red. It appears to be an original paint with decals in place. Any evidence blue is correct?

Picked up a very rusty western flyer. Any help with this one would be appreciated. Serial# is 672264. There are more smaller numbers and letters too but have not made fully legible yet.. Has western flyer grips, can recognise the chain guard. No headache and a bracket behind where the head...
Thanks! It cleaned up well. The red has faded to some orange and some brown. I wet sanded and clear lacquered to finish and preserve as well as possible. There are more photos in the project forum. The chrome isn't perfect but overall nice. It was a fun estate sale find and my 3rd project bike...
Just a pedal end cap and some cable clamps away. Rode this today! Proud of the results and thank you to everyone who helped. I learned a ton with this bike!

Saddle reshape went well. Soaked overnight in a bucket of water, then wrapped it up to shape. Let it dry for a few days and resulted in a nicely shaped original Brooks saddle. Final rub down will be with leather conditioner.

Started the reassembly this weekend. Also worked on the saddle restoration which I'll share later. Waiting on tires and tubes to arrive.

The serial number has an extra Digit. Drop the 1st digit and it's a 1954 Schwinn #. The bike matches earlier Schwinn Double curved bar roadsters. The tie I see between my Flying Star and your dad's photo is not just the similar bike but the exact design of the oversized crank gear. Going to pull...
Found a paint color for touch-up, matches well. 2005 Corvette Daytona orange. Sprayed the rear rack (only part repainted) and chrome is coming along..

Hey Cabers! Looking for input on improving the look, condition and longevity of my 1969 Raleigh Brooks saddle. The leather is hard, the sides flaring up with some cracking. I've got the chrome springs looking good but not sure what to do with the rusty rivets that show. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info! I'll check the seat for a date. I have started the project and I am sharing the clean and shine in the project forum. Color has a unique faded patina that is a mixed burnt orange and gold. Fun bike, can't wait to ride!

Going for a quick tear down, clean up and reassembly I discovered this bike has some fun features. My Estate sale find which was so dirty that I thought was just a bland brown, has cleaned up and with a lacquer clear is a beautiful burnt orange faded to gold in some spots. Decided to clear coat...
What a coincidence!..My first try at an old Raleigh crank too! My vice was the victor! I had the same thing happen to me last night on my old sprite 5 speed.. only my crank side bearing cap came out. [emoji21]..soaking overnight hoping for more luck soon..not looking forward to assembling all...
First post, Hey Y'all!!. Bought this at an estate sale of a famous artist yesterday. Guessing 1969?. Need some help dating this old English Raleigh, the chain guard is throwing me off...
