MOTOmike

Wore out three sets of tires already!
Selling a 1939 Elgin Twin 20 with beautiful original black paint and pin striping. Everything on this bike is original except the bar grips, which were missing when I bought the bike (I added reproduction torpedo style grips). The bike rides beautifully. I have cleaned and re-greased the front wheel hub bearings, the headset bearings, the crank bearings and the pedal bearings. I never took apart the 2-speed rear hub because it still works perfectly. The front wheel bell was not on the bike when I bought it, but the person I bought it from said it probably went with the bike. The only thing I had to add was a key ring to the handlebar to secure the chain. The bell works perfectly. The wheels are very straight. The rims have areas of surface rust, but if that bothers you, you can use some very fine steel wool and WD-40 to get rid of it. One area of the rear wheel rim does have some rust pitting (see photo). After I bought the bike, I installed new chain tread tires and tubes. I have never opened the headlight.

I bought this bike in Chicago, IL when I lived in Illinois. I bought this bike from the nephew of the original owner (his uncle). This bike has never been disassembled for shipping. Everything on this bike is straight and really in excellent condition. In my opinion, this bike is so nice it could be in a museum.

If you buy this bike and need it shipped, I will use two boxes so I am able to pack everything better. Shipping cost will depend on your location; there will also be a $50 charge for packing materials. Or, if you live within driving distance, you can pick up this bike in person.

If you have any questions, please ask.
