I have a 1964 Schwinn Del Mar Cruiser style that has a very unique serial number that does not match anything listed that I can find. I have found an example of my serial number on the Schwinn main website from a 1970 model. The serial number is SNFSD08M. I am in discussion with Schwinn the company to get more information about the Del Mar Model. Does anyone have any information about the Del Mar? I have had one expert suggest it was a regional limited edition run bicycle. It has features of other models but other things are totally reversed from other models. Like Name and logos are reversed from what is standard from Schwinn. Another suggestion was that the Bel Air was an export-only model or for the Canadian market. Would like help in identifying this model and its history.

From the serial number the bicycle is from the era when Pacific Cycle owned the Schwinn brand name.

The serial number is only partial but it indicates a frame manufactured in 2008.

Member rickpaulos posts pictures of many bicycles. Here is a link to a Schwinn Del Mar from 2009:

How do you decipher that number into a 2008 model?

Hola and hi to all cabers! I was waiting, for his bike pics, because, those kind of names, only belongs to the newer Schwinn bikes, and never to the all vintage Schwinn models! That name were used for boys and girls bikes! I wish to now,how this modern model name, was connected to a 1964 vintage Schwinn bike? Maybe the gave that info,to pushing the sale? Here's some pics from the internet, that matches the model name to some newer Schwinn bikes, and use those strange modern serial numbers!

How do I know Pacific Cycle serial number date encoding?

I do not have any documentation from Pacific Cycle or from the manufacturers in China. So I could be wrong in my deciphering. However, I have seen many serial numbers from Pacific Cycle brands including: GT, Huffy, Roadmaster, Mongoose, and Schwinn.

There are several formats of serial numbers for Pacific Cycle brands of bicycles. The most common format starts with:
"SN" followed by
three letters followed by
two digits followed by
one letter followed by more characters.

The two digits indicate the year and the following letter the month of frame manufacture.
The month letters are A thru H, and J thru M, for 12 months.
The decoding of the months assumes the letter order corresponds to the month order.

08M is 2008 December, for the subject Delmar.

19M is 2019 December, for the bikeindex.org Delmar.

I hope this explanation is clear.

If anyone has any discrepancies, I would like to see them and make changes to my deciphering if necessary.

Below is a picture of a circa 1939 Delmar; not sure if it is related to the others.

Apparently "Delmar" is a some kind of trendy main thoroughfare in St. Louis MO.
