Hey all
I bought this Superior about a year and a half ago. I've moved onto another bike and so I'm selling this according to a one-in-one-out rule that is strictly enforced by the size of my apartment walls
The bike is in overall good condition. There are some scratches to the paint and the "S"s for Superior both fell off at some point.
When I bought the bike, it may have never been ridden more than a few miles. That's good for keeping the paint pretty, but it meant that it hadn't ever been serviced either. I've removed all of the dried grease and repacked all of the bearings (hubs, BB, headset).
Condition:
When I had this setup for commuting, it felt totally dialled in. Super quiet and smooth. The shifting and brakes were excellent. There are a couple areas that would need attention for a new buyer to return to that level of condition: when I swapped back to the original bars, I went back to the original cables and housing. These are tired and and replaced. When I put the 54/40 chainrings back on, I did not re-size the chain. The chain needs to be replaced in order to use the big-big ring. Or just stay out of that combination.
I swapped a lot of parts to lower the weight and make the bike more comfortable as a commuter. As part of the sale, I've put the OEM parts back in place in most cases, but left a few things on that I think the next person will enjoy (OEM parts are in a box that is included in the same if not currently on the bike).
Removed replacements that are available for extra cost:
Replacement parts installed on the bike
Missing OEM parts

Removed replacements that are available for extra cost:
- 40/26 TA chainrings that mount directly to the OEM Nervar crank. The pictures show the 40/26 chainrings installed, but they are now removed.
Replacement parts installed on the bike
- Tektro sidepull caliper brakes. These stop so much better, I didn't want to put the centerpulls back. The centerpulls and all hardware are included in sale.
- Suntour downtube shifters. Nice feel, a bit lighter than the original Hurets. Original shifters included in the sale
- Suntour band clamp style front derailleur. This was a better fit than the original when using the 40/26 chainrings. It required a bit of creativity to mount, but overall works well.
- Wolftooth seat clamp. Lighter and prettier than the original. The OEM clamp is included in the sale.
- Shimano 14-34t freewheel. Hyperglide just shifts so much better than the original Maillard. OEM freewheel included in the sale.
Missing OEM parts
- Suntour V-GT Luxe rear derailleur. I can include it, but it's broken. I stupidly ran a too short chain and broke the return spring. Currently there is a Shimano Acera installed that shifts incredibly well, it just isn't as pretty.
- Lower headset bearing retainer. Not sure where it went. I am running loose balls without a retainer in the lower race.
- Upper headset lockring. Also misplaced, I'm running the lockring that fits the 22.2 stem. It has a bit of a rubber seal, so the size mismatch seems OK to me.
- Original seatpost is missing. It came to me with an incorrect 26.4mm post. I replaced it with a beautiful 26.8mm Nitto
- The bike came with the original tires. I have no interest in old rubber and gave them to a fellow CABEr earlier this year. Replaced by a Schwalbe Marathon in front and a Swift Sand King in the rear.
