I'm the Wiz, and nobody beats me!
Bought a box of bike stuff today and this was in there, National award for Coates bike shop in Pomona Ca., a couple yrs. before the Stingray sales boom, haven’t found any info so probably not around anymore, John, @Schwinn Sales West?, 20-25 mi. from me, I would keep it had it been a closer shop to me.

Coates was one of the large dealerships in Southern California. Keep in mind that to be ranked at number Nine in the national Schwinn Thousand Club was about two to three thousand unit sales. 1961 was well before my time working at Schwinn Sales West. That award was presented at the Steak House right off the 5 FWY in Commerce, CA. It was very close to Harry Wilson Sales Agency at 5959 Smithway. Bob Wilson used to have "his buddy" Andy Divine come and help hand out these awards at the dealer dinner. What I remember about Coates is the owner had a full wood working and cabinet shop behind the store. He did many small projects for the new Schwinn Sales West locations in City of Industry and later in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Coates was a great Schwinn Dealership.

Lots of history in that plaque. Nice find.

John
