Not so sure this a real Lindy. While the frame is similar to the trike I reference above it has differences. Also nearly every other part of your trike is different as well to include handlebar collar, handlebars, badge, plane, pedals, etc... The badge on yours is ill fitting and may be from a bicycle. I'm know expert but just not feeling good about this one.
The "Lindy" tricycle was made by the Hall Manufacturing Company in 1928. In 1927 Charles Lindbergh became a world celebrity by being the first aviator to complete a solo transatlantic flight in his plane the "Spirit of St. Louis." The Shelby bicycle company bought Lindbergh's indorsement to sell a "Lindy" model bicycle. They designed a special head badge showing Lindbergh's plane and the word "Lindy" in large letters. The bicycle also had a small model of his plane mounted on the front fender. To lower costs Shelby shared rights with the Hall Manufacturing Company. Hall made a "Lindy" sled, wagon, and small tricycle. Hall added their name to the Shelby badge and reduced its size to fit the tricycle. Very few of the Hall tricycles, or Shelby bicycles, were ever sold and survived the depression of 1929.
While that is interesting information I don't see how it adjudicates the differences between these two trikes? Does anyone have any period advertisements of a Lindy trike?
The smaller Lindy badge read something like "...AND SUPPLY CO. MINNEAPOLIS" I am guessing that may have been Island Cycle and Supply. They may have acquired that Brand after Shelby no longer wanted it? and continued to put it on little riders.
