Finished loading up my van for the Stockton Auto swap tomorrow just now, have a few hours to kill before dinner so thought I would post some pics of some Sears Spyder bikes and share a Reggie Jackson story for those that might be interested. Nice being retired when loading up my van is the highlight of my day and in general life is pretty easy except for the growing old and aging/health part. I had not seen Reggie since May when he was nice enough to invite me to his 80th birthday dinner celebration. So 2 weeks ago we went out to lunch. After lunch we went over some of his muscle bike collection to see what would be good bikes to put in the Monterey Mecum auction next month. Last year I helped him get 5 bikes ready for the auction and they did really well. Well I see a Rolls Royce of his being worked on by one of his mechanics and the trunk was open and I see a personalized plate in the trunk, 3N1GAME. I knew right away it referred to the 3 home runs at Yankee Stadium to win the World Series in 1977 at Yankee Stadium. I thought it was such a cool plate that I asked if I could take a photo of it which I did. Later on I purchased a set of Schwinn Spyder bikes from him, so I had one of the mechanics take a photo of the bikes, Reggie, me, and the plate. Reggie told me right after he hit the 3 homers that game he went out and bought that Rolls to celebrate and has kept it to this day. Might consider selling one of the Sears Spyder bikes if anyone wants a nice Sears Spyder. Supposed to hit 95 degrees tomorrow in Stockton, but usually pack up and go after lunch before it gets to warm. If you are going to the swap drive safely and come by and see me if you like.
