Finally riding a big boys bike
Up for auction on Deal or No Deal is an incredibly scarce, original, early-1950s panoramic paper dealer banner advertising the Indian Motocycle Company’s 3-Speed Lightweight Bicycle line.
This piece represents a legendary, short-lived era (1951–1952) when the iconic Springfield, Massachusetts motorcycle manufacturer partnered with British manufacturers (like Phillips and Raleigh) to import premium, lightweight 3-speed transit options to the US market right before the original company ceased operations in 1953.
Design & Imagery
This striking, highly graphic horizontal panoramic poster features brilliant mid-century artwork of a young man and woman riding side-by-side on classic English-style lightweight frames equipped with Sturmey-Archer 3-speed hubs.
Left Side: Features the stylized, classic slogan: "More Fun with Less Effort."
Center/Right: Dominated by the massive, legendary Indian script logo inside a bold cream and yellow chevron streak, proudly proclaiming "3-SPEED LIGHTWEIGHT BICYCLES."
Condition Report (New Old Stock / Deadstock Survivor)
Overall Grading: Near-Mint / Exceptional "Back-Room" Survivor Status. This is a true NOS piece that was stashed away flat/rolled and completely forgotten about.
Edges & Corners: Remarkably crisp. Completely free of standard dealer wear like pinholes, heavy creases, hard folds, or tape marks.
Surface & Color: The registration is perfect. The period-correct industrial red and Canary yellow pigments remain exceptionally bright, vibrant, and completely unfaded.
Provenance & Authenticity: Features the factory print marker in the lower right margin: "FORM M968 PRINTED IN U.S.A.", guaranteeing its status as a genuine 1950s dealer-distributed original, not a modern digital reproduction.
Note: Features only minor, negligible edge handling marks typical of long-term storage, which would completely disappear if you choose to mat or frame it.
