I sold this for $80 a few weeks ago. I hope it wasn't the last one!

USA on the seat tube and lugs, plus the decals scream 1991.....but the catalog doesn't mention red. Daaaaggg!
The red ones were 1992 and came out of Taiwan. There was a big stink over those big "Designed in USA" decals that year too. We were sent an envelope of "Made in Taiwan, China, and Hungary" stickers that we had to install right under those.

Having worked for Schwinn from 1978 till the bankruptcy, then Scott Sports Group (aka Schwinn Cycling and Fitness) till 1994, it amazes me how much of this history I have forgotten.

I'm right behind you when it comes to what I have forgotten! 😆

I sold Schwinns from 1991 up to the point where Pacific bought them out (2001?) We hung on to their fitness line (Nautilus) for a few more years after that.

The red bike I had said Made in USA on it. I have had many Taiwanese Schwinns from the same era and this frame is different.

Aloha everyone--know I am new to the game and know next to nothing about Schwinns---but having just acquired a vintage Schwinn, this is what I had to do, to find out, the year my bike was made, and thank God , I had a "village" of very kind people on the Cabe, who were filled with the Aloha Spirit that helped me along the way:
1. get "registration number"
2. find out where registration number for that model Schwinn was located
3. determine what that number was, since it was covered with black paint
4. then locate Schwinn priest who has access to Schwinn Bible, where these "numbers" could be converted into an actual date
SOOOOOOO my point being, unless the system has changed, does anyone KNOW what the registration number would be that would convert to October 1, 1991???? I hate to keep bothering those Schwinn Priests, who until now, have been nothing but kind and helpful!!!! a hui hou

By "registration number" do you mean "serial number"? There were different formats for serial numbers depending on where the bike was made, but there should be a four digit "build date" number stamped into the head badge, I'd go by that.

Two High Plains new in the box. Shop owner ordered them because he knew they were ending production. Unfortunately date code not stamped on the boxes so not sure when they were actually made.

Hello Kramai,

Sorry to bother, I was wondering if the Schwinn 2342110 (the one on right) is bought by you or it is still available in the store you showed.
I used to have that bike over 15 years ago and unfortunately I had to sell it when I have to move. Recently I have been nostalgic about that bike and I have been looking around to find it. I attached a picture that I found in my old email when I listed my bike :(
