Look Ma, No Hands!
Here we have a 1948 Schwinn B-6 Autocycle. I bought this bike on eBay awhile back, it came from Chicago and was a total pit. I did my best to clean it up, find a fender light and rear rack for it and get it back up and running. The fender light and rear rack have been painted and weathered to match the bike as best as possible. The fender braces are new old stock with threaded rivets to hold them in place. The bike was totally disassembled and rebuilt. This was NOT an original front pork chop bike. When I rebuilt it I found a NOS pork chop front brake for it and had both wheels respoked with NOS double butted Torrington spokes. The original non-knurled 1948 one year only S2 rims are the originals to the bike, washers were added behind the nipple spokes to prevent the spokes from coming through, someone performing maintenance on the bike I assume many years ago over tightened the nipples on the spokes and pulled open the spoke holes on the rims. The rims were inspected and were NOT drilled out for larger spokes, just simply overtightened. The Cadet speedometer attached was pulled apart, cleaned and a new hard plastic lense was installed. The horn is a reproduction for functionality, but I will include an original horn, the original horn was tested and was NOT functional, but you may be able to get it to work. Included will also be some of the surviving original Torrington double butted spokes with their respective nipples, as well as two glass eye reflectors in orange. The fender light internals have also been replaced with a reproduction light tray and lense for full functionality, the light switch is an original switch. Please inspect the pictures as they tell the story. I will include photos of the restoration and the final product.

This was the bike as I found it in Chicago.

This is the bike after the restoration. I was also able to find an early scripted glass Schwann reflector for this bike, not sure if it's correct for it but it looks nice. The original tires to the bike were tossed, but I was able to find a very clean original set of Goodyear All Weather Deluxe tires for it. Ridden on them many times and they ride great. The steer tube was also missing the original key, I sent it over Wes Pinchot and had him replace it with an original tumbler and matching OG Yale key. The seat is also an original messenger saddle restored and recovered by Bob_Cycles, the seat did have water spilled on it, which is why it has the staining that it does, it may be able to be fixed if the seat is stained once over with another leather stain, the seat however still does look presentable.

Please message me with any questions! I am open to offers and chatting more about the bike. Shipping will be in addition to the $2300 unless local pickup is arranged here in Phoenix, AZ. Local pickup is highly preferred but shipping works too. This bike is across listed elsewhere, if it sells it will be removed.
