Recently this week I met a gentlemen who was interested in buying some old racing bike rims I had stored in my basement, he wasn’t able to find what he was looking for though because he needed a Schwinn S-7. We talked a little and I found out he collected balloon tire bicycles, so I took a trip over to his place. I pulled up to his house on my red Western Flyer Super, and I knew by how he looked at it that he wanted it. For the next hour or two we discussed old bikes and best finds, while in between topics getting back to my bike. Eventually he admitted he wanted to own it there and then offered to trade one or even two of his bikes with cash for it. He offered to trade his grade 9 1957 MK 3 Schwinn Jaguar for it, original shifter and all, in addition to possibly another. However I have declined for the time being, and told him I would have to think about it. The other bikes he offered were 1946-1947 take apart (paratrooper). I only thought I would ask other bike collectors what they might do, because this prospect is difficult to ponder for me, as I love my flyer and I have another one to compliment it (1949 WF super). What would you do?
