John,
Spokes break at the head because that is where the force is transmitted to the hub. That said, if the engine is that low on horsepower, it is apparently just fine. The V belt is going to allow some slip and/or stretch, as well.

That nut could be hanging by 1/2 a thread !
Would be a heck of a wreck.

The standard bendix axle extends about 3/4"-1" past the frame.
From my machinist days and my old machinists hand book it states for proper clamping the width of the nut should be equal to the diameter of the stud/bolt. So if you have a 3/8 axle the nut should be 3/8 wide, anything more is unnecessary.
When the ad was first posted I could see there was no inboard nut so I thought thats an interesting piece of hardware.
I've never seen a wizzer but I think you'll find it looks like this with the shaded part manufactured or machined round.
Maybe not aesthetically pleasing but plenty of thread in the nut.

Yes the long nuts were made for an automotive application, I have used them on cars with reverse rims.

I’d have to take it apart, but, I’d bet underneath the drop stand there is a nut with an extension that acts as a pivot for the drop stand, and a surface for the outside nut to tighten down on, allowing the drop stand to move.

I’m not crazy about how the “drive” is supplied to the rear wheel, through the middle of the spokes, as it changes how the spokes are stressed, and how the wheel stays true, but, maybe they were low enough on torque that it isn’t an issue.

My Whizzer is a 1200cc Yamaha.

Ted
I put one of these drive hoops on my 85 klunker with a moped motor. 1500 miles at least with no trouble to the wheel.
