Somewhere in my stash, I have an original script from Mike the Bike. I do remember maybe 1975ish, the police coming to my elementary school in Three Oaks Michigan with the Mike the Bike program. It seemed like it was a big plastic face on the front of a bike that talked, I do not remember it being a stingray. I have the script from that program because my aunt was somehow associated with the program. My older brother was a good artist; he was probably 10 at the time. My aunt commissioned my brother to draw a little brochure for the program; I have not found that brochure, but somehow, I came across the script and saved it. Brings back memories for sure.

This thing runs off a 9-volt battery haha, here ya go.

I gotta say wow if that’s original paint which looks like that’s nice !! Definitely a keeper if I were you, post some more pics like the seat rims tires and more of the paint close up

The Mike the bike program included several bikes all travelling around giving bike safety advice at schools etc.
A friend of mine with a few bikes down the street has a Mike the bike hanging in his garage rafters. It's a BX Stingray and still has all the accessories on it. Radio and all.

That bike shop -Barr Bike- went out of business last year. Our Coop got tons of their stuff. Stock and tools etc. The basement was full of OG Schwinn stuff. Buyers flew in to get stuff but DSMs biggest bike pockets got most of it. Itchi.

I am pretty sure I have a spare lens for your taillight. I can check this weekend. If you need it, I’d be glad to send it over.
It turns out that he does have the lens already. There is a parallel thread on this same bike started yesterday over in the Lightweight Schwinns group, which includes some talk about the taillight lens:

Hopefully that one could be merged in here...

If you want to sell the bike post it in the classifieds:

I recall a Sting-ray City News that featured an article about these police bikes. There was a picture of one completely kitted out and two that were "stripped", owned by a collector in Pennsylvania by the name of Dan Bundra. I used to be in touch with Dan, but that was over thirty years ago! Perhaps someone here on the C.A.B.E has the article and can post it with the pictures.
