T-Man

'Lil Knee Scuffer
I just picked up a 1976 Schwinn Suburban from CL, for $30.
Frame paint job is in rough shape, and is in need of a real paint job / restoration. I'll probably just do the 'bolt-on' replacements (wheels, tires, cables, brakes, etc.), and then just leave it. I did verify the Serial Number as a "Chicago" Schwinn.
Anyone have an idea on where I can get replacement decals if I decide to tackle the paint? I haven't been able to find them anywhere. This model has the 'block' style letters instead of the script style letters. No rush...I've got other bikes I picked up that I'm working on as well.

Thanks.

If this is the girls bike you posted in the gallery, unless you plan on riding it, I would not spend money or time on this. A good set of tires and tubes will cost more than the bike is worth. You can have decals made, but again, these will exceed the value of the bike. If you do plan on riding it, and it's a keeper, then have at it. Best of luck on this one.

Nope, the girls bike pictures I posted are of a '72 Huffy Savannah I picked up for $25, that I also have as a project, and yes...the white-wall tires, tubes, new chain, etc. I have for it have already exceed what I wanted to spend. At least it will look really nice! Maybe I'll donate it!
Thanks.

Well, just finished the '72 Huffy refurbishment (uploaded pics)... which served as great practice for the more important next job, the '76 Schwinn! I took a little rust off the rear wheel to see how it looked underneath, and man I was surprised at how well it shined up. Before pics on the way soon.

@soddruntlestuntle,
I wasn't able to find 'Bicycle Bones' on eBay for Schwinn Suburban decals, but no worry...I probably won't tackle the frame just yet anyway, just the shiny parts!

Type in "Schwinn Suburban White Bicycle Complete Decal Set" and they pop right up, $45.00 for the entire set.

Maybe @ABC Services can help you. I don’t think Bike bones has that style.

Messaged...thanks!
Meanwhile, I started a few spots on the wheels (steel wool and brass brush) and the frame (lemon pledge and super fine steel wool). I was pleasantly surprised!
