I am curious to figure out a value on my 1984 Scwhinn Sidewinder I know the 1982 and 1983 Sidewinders are more valuable due to the cool anodized parts. My sidewinder is mostly original minus the Sunrace thumb shifters, the tires and the Wrights.

Note that if the headbadge is original (as it appears to be) then that bike was built on Wed. March 30th 1983, in which case it would be an '83 model. Here is the '83 catalog page:

Because it also seems to be missing the original Suntour 14-38T freewheel, matching spoke protector, the Suntour AG derailleur and the Sugino 39-48T crankset I'd probably estimate the value at under $100. Here is a much more original one on eBay asking $119: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-schwinn-sidewinder-10-speed-cruiser-bike-/272483756487

I've got a few Sidewinders , the earlier models go for 300-400 , the BMX guys like them , but yes the 83 model year should bring less , yours is really clean , but not completely original which makes it less desirable to a collector and more of a riders bike . I too changed out some parts on my 83 since they aren't that popular

The 82 Sidewinder was the only year that had the anodized parts on it, the 83 & 84 were all chrome and steel with a painted fork.

So how are you dating your bike? The head badge code makes it an 83, not an 84 model

Here is my 82.
