Do you think somebody swapped out the wheel set? What kind of hubs have you got? Paint looks good, should clean up nice.

The original owner didn’t mention swapping the wheels. The back hub is Bendix single red stripe, the front I haven’t cleaned up. Looks OG though

The bike is a 62 American Heavy Duty model, the chain guard is original to the bicycle.

The bike is missing a few key components that the heavy duty was equipped with, other than the chain guard. Heavy duty front hub 120 gauge spokes and the 7000 messenger seat. That has a regular American seat and wheel sets. Are there any extra welds on the cantilever tubes?

It is either missing the original wheel set, or the chain guard was swapped out at some point in time? .80ga spokes would not work on a rim that was drilled for .120ga spokes!

Yes IT’s missing the seat, yes the spokes have been mentioned. Likely the man had the rims re spoked in the 60 + years of ownership. Not remembering obviously. The 50$ bill I paid for it. Again a solid deal

Correct the .120ga spokes have been changed out.
