A new shoe

Every time I parked my truck I heard the dreaded steel on concrete, asphalt etc. The bottom of my stand is getting pretty thin so I finally addressed the problem I should have ten years ago.

It took longer to disassemble and reassemble everything then it did to fit the new shoe.

On the wood basket board someone attempted to wire it back together years ago, so I kept the wire theme going. Rubbed it down with some dirty chain grease to help blend it in.

Now I can park in peace!

I cringe every time I deploy my stand as well.
It was already pretty well worn when I got it, and it’s been grinding every since, so I may have to follow your lead and re shoe the old truck stand some day.

Drilling holes and using a flat head counter sunk self drilling screws to secure the shoe to the stand would be 100% better than bailing wire. With wire the shoe is going to move front to back and sideways..

I thought the same thing, except drilling holes is a bane to collectors in the future.
Everybody hates the guy that drilled holes in places where there never was any.
Baling wire seems more appropriate for the shade tree mechanic who made the deliveries for the local general store.
Just a thought.

Well, I would never drill two 1/8" holes in the bottom of the drop stand bottom because I'm totally anal to the max. Do it right or get lost is my motto.
