My '82 Sidewinder was originally sold by Lodi Schwinn Cyclery, Lodi, California. Shop is no longer there as of this 2022 street view

The shop was one that I called on when I was first hired by Schwinn Sales West in 1978. It was owned by Stan and Martha Lagomarsino. They were great dealers, very community connected. The store was small, hardly enough for a bike shop. After I was relocated to the Arizona territory in the early 1980's they moved to a larger store located in the center of downtown Lodi. I was in that store on Tuesday mornings every other week, then Wright's Schwinn and Main St. Bicycles both in Stockton.

Thank you! Amazing information! I will print out your message, and archive it as part of the bike's history. This bike lived in Lodi until 2002, when I purchased it from the original owner.

That location does look small. Curious to see if the location they moved to still houses a bike shop.

I was in their new location as a Regional Manager in the late 1980's. I do not have an address for you , but it was on the main street that connects Lodi to Stockton. The store was on the west side of the street.

I’m very late on joining this Great thread on the dealer decals.
I’ve always loved seeing these decals, plus the registration decals on bicycles.
They add character and history.

I have several on some of my early Stingrays.

My 1963 Flamboyant Lime has that cool shield water slide decal, plus a license sticker.
This L3 (Nov. 1, 1963) was purchased new from Economy Shop in Los Gatos, California.
Years ago this Schwinn Bicycle store had been a veterinary hospital and I think it’s a real estate office now.

I found an old newspaper bag from this Economy Shop to display with the bike.

Very nice original bike. It's a kinda funny name for a Bike Shop (Economy) when you consider that Los Gatos is in one of the highest rent areas (the bay area) in the entire country.

Cool find on the dealer backpack bag. I do not believe it was a newspaper bag. In the 1960's (at least on the west coast) it was very common for Bicycle Dealers to have their store logo printed on a canvas book bag. These were essentially the forerunners to the back pack's kids use in school today. The canvass book bags were made by Behr and any store that did any volume had their own bag design. In the 1980's stores did their own store logo water bottles, but in the 1960's it was a store logo Behr Book bag. I have never seen the Economy Bag, it's a start to your book bag collection.

Good morning John,

I got this L3 Lime in a trade with Rick that owns Wheel-Away in Campbell. Ca. 21 years ago.

Yes Sir, the canvass book bags made by Behr. Thank you for that information.
I have the page in my Jan ‘69 Schwinn Book.

Besides my Economy Shop bag I also have a John’s from Pasadena bag.

Thanks, Chris

Thank you for that information, it confirms I'm not completely crazy yet.
It's weird the minutia that sticks in an old man's head! LOL
