Bike and year?

Have this photo of a family member who was known to cycle around Missouri, Kansas and Colorado back in the early 1900s.
Although this is obviously a studio portrait, we feel it is his own bicycle given the state of the tires and the pistol holster under the seat.
We would like help in identifying the bicycle make and approximate year so we can add it to the photo.

my guess is 1890s.. I have a similar photo of my great grandfather from Joplin Missouri Taken in Tampa Fl, 1898.. very similar.. bicycle jives with 1890s as well, as far as make.. stumped..

I think the best way to date it is to ID the lamp.. love the flipped & dropped bars & reversed stem.. your relative was a fast rider! places to go!
clothing also jives with late 1800s early 1900s..
its def be tween 1895 - 1906

There is something unusual going on at the head tube top tube connection. Better pics would be nice.
