So it really don’t matter what do to it. Not a valuable bike. I think I will strip it down, repaint and make a Georgia Bulldog themed bike. Put in a filler panel instead of a tank. Go Dawgs.

While, I too, live in Georgia I’d vote for a Notre Dame themed bike😄
 
Look like og CWC/AMF wheels and I'd vote for running the og patina paint job!

NO clear!! XXX!, just scrub a little with WD & 0000 steel wool and rub with linseed oil, great looking survivor.

A bike that is a mixture of parts. For example that chain ring is a Wald replacement. Not sure about that seat, wheels, or stem either.
Are you sure that's a Wald? AMF used a very similar chain ring in the late '50's, but I'm not sure when they first appeared. And AMF may have got these from Wald too, for all I know. But the seat definitely looks later than the bike.
