It could be either.
The Defense model period ran from October 1941 until April 1942.

Mike, that bike had been parted out and re parted back together at least twice before by my count.
No harm no foul.
Black 1941 Schwinn’s are sweet parts bikes.

Besides, it looks like Tedd’s got the perfect chainguard to part it back to BFG spec’s and he’s somewhat local.
I’d say $900 is the magic number.

That's not quite true. You could place your order starting in October 41 but the production started later. As per the posted Schwinn info on this subject.

Correct,
No bicycle was built or shipped after October 22nd 1941 that didn’t fall under the Defense Model clause, until March/April 1942 when the tighter Victory Model restrictions superseded them.

Late October thru Early April is the generally accepted time frame for the Defense Model Program.
