Maldwyn Jones (1891-1987), racer and accomplished mechanic, sits on a Flying Merkel, along Broad Street in Middletown, Ohio, 1914.

Third man from the left, standing behind Jones, is Joseph Merkel (1872-1958), who invented the machine. Fourth man from the left is Samuel Clark, the Flying Merkel agent in Middletown.
