Wayne Adam

I live for the CABE
I just picked up this ladies Elgin yesterday. I found it on the local PA Craigslist for what I think is a fair price. I really like this model with the ribbed tank & the cast metal
head shroud. Can someone please tell me the year of the bike & if there is a model name? Also notice that it has a nice old set of US Royal chains
on it that still hold air. This was stored in a basement for decades. The serial number of the bike is E145323
Also, yes, I know that the seat is incorrect, and I also have an original pre war front load Delta Torpedo light to add.
Thanks for your help.......................Wayne

Nice! Looks like about 1940 to me, but I'm sure you'll hear for sure once the correct eyes are on it.

Thanks

Thanks guys. I figure it is well worth the $100.00 I bought it for........Wayne

Pictures or info?

Does anyone have any pictures, or ads of this particular bike that they can post?........Thanks, Wayne

Appears to be a "4 Star Sport" model from 1940. Unusual though, being a Westfield built bike, as Murray took over the bulk of Elgin production after 1938. The catalog page looks to have an illustration of a more typical murray built bike, with the horeshoe style rear frame stays. It also has twin headlights mounted abould halfway down the head tube. The E serial on yours pins the frame date to mid-late 1940.
