Hawthorne Comet Reference Thread

-
Seems like in 48 they just called it "Standard Tank model" in some of the Wards catalogs.

I just call my bikes by the "make" and "badge" (or brand); for example, "CWC Hawthorne".
  • built by Cleveland Welding Co.
  • sold by Montgomery Ward, under the Hawthorne label
And most people seem to understand; although it is not the make & model.

Also, that way I do not have to explain what "Comet" is; although I do have an "Ajax" badge (somewhere).

A fun name sounds so much more interesting than some what of a "code" name. I just wanted to be a little accurate with the name without boring my friends, most of them never heard of a Hawthorne. But I completely understand your point. Thanks for your advice and accuracy.
